Floating Points (real name Sam Shepherd) followed up his acclaimed debut Elaenia with an EP titled Kuiper last year, and now he's returned with plans for a whopping 19-minute-long new single. "Ratio" is set to arrive digitally in its entirety on October 19.
It will also be given a 12-inch vinyl release that features a "deconstructed mix" of all 19 minutes. The A-side plays nine minutes of sound identical to that of the digital single, followed by just the organ section of the second half. In contrast, the B-side features the isolated sound of the beat and bassline in the second half.
Ahead of the official single release, Shepherd has shared a radio edit of the new track. Listen to a shortened version of "Ratio" here via Annie Mac's BBC Radio show.
The vinyl version of "Ratio" is currently available for pre-order here.
