Flight of the Conchords Can Their HBO Series

After much speculation, it's official: Flight of the Conchords will not be returning for a third season. Bret and Jemaine broke the bad news late Thursday (December 10) via a post on their website, saying they are proud of the work they've done during their two seasons on HBO but that the characters Bret and Jemaine will "no longer be around."

The statement reads:

We've noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won't be returning for a 3rd season. We're very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended. We'd like to thank everyone who helped make the show and also everyone who watched it. While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist.

There so far is no word what the future plans are for "New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo," but maybe they'll do that whole stage show thing after all.
