The Flesh Eaters' 'A Minute to Pray a Second to Die' Gets Reissued via Superior Viaduct

Superior Viaduct has been on a roll with its series of reissues the last couple of years, and this summer it will keep up the good work by delivering a reissue of L.A. punk band the Flesh Eaters' A Minute to Pray a Second to Die, as well as few more choice re-releases.

The repress of the Flesh Eaters' sophomore effort will arrive on CD June 24 and on vinyl July 8. Originally released back in 1981, A Minute to Pray a Second to Die found band leader/Slash magazine writer Chris Desjardins assembling an all-star crew of L.A. punk musicians, including X's John Doe (bass) and DJ Bonebrake (drums), Los Lobos' Steve Berlin (sax), and the Blasters' Dave Alvin (guitar) and Bill Bateman (drums).

Described as featuring a series of "grotesque vignettes" growled out by Desjardins, the album is inspired by "African tribal music, '60s garage-rock churn and Funhouse-era Stooges," and includes a cover of X track "Cyrano De Berger's Back."

A Minute to Pray a Second to Die has been remastered and features new liner notes by author/archivist Byron Coley.

Also on deck for Superior Viaduct are a CD-only repress of the Gun Club's debut album, Fire of Love, which arrives June 24 and includes liner notes from the Flesh Eaters' Chris Desjardins; another reissue by Brigitte Fontaine, this time her self-titled third full-length, on July 22; and Heldon's 1975 set Allez-Téia, which also comes out on July 22.
