Published Dec 27, 2010While there's certainly no shortage of hip-hop autobiographies to read in the near future, news that legendary Public Enemy hype man Flavor Flav will be tackling a book of his own should have rap fans worldwide crying out "Yeah Boyee!" The latest rhymer to line up a memoir, following fellow MCs Jay Z, Common and Mobb Deep's Prodigy, among others, Flavor Flav is reportedly set to issue his own book, titled Icon. A listing on Amazon says the book will be published on March 1 by Farrah Gray Publishing.
With decades of hip-hop history to sift through, the clock-rockin' rapper is bound to have a couple anecdotes to dole out to the devoted. For starters, dude can dish the details on his participation in the recording of groundbreaking political rap masterpieces like It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back and Fear of a Black Planet. Maybe he could talk about that early rap-rock collaboration with Anthrax for "Bring the Noise"? Let's not forget his outlandish, Viking-helmet sporting turn on reality show The Surreal Life and his follow-up dating game Flavor of Love. He could also take his tome into the realm of business writing via his upcoming line of crunked out spirits. Here's betting there's all sorts of crazy stuff the gold-grilled hype man has hidden from us all these years.
Maybe he's just following in his bandmate's footsteps; PE leader Chuck D released his book Fight the Power back in 1998.
