Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd Ready Album as Electric Würms

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 10, 2014

Though the Flaming Lips have had no shortage of output as of late, that doesn't appear to be enough. Instead, the band's own Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd have prepared a new album with a new side project.

The group is called Electric Würms, and sees Coyne and Drozd trying out different roles than usual, with the latter on vocals and the former on bass. They'll be joined by psych-rock group Linear Downfall.

Electric Würms' debut album is a six-track effort called Musik, Die Shwer Zu Twerk, and will arrive on August 19 via Warner Bros. In addition to a digital release, it'll be available on limited "Purple Dayglo" vinyl.

The LP's first single is a cover of Yes's "Heart of the Sunrise," and it is available on iTunes now. In addition, you can check out some in-studio footage of the band below.

Thanks to Spin for the tip.
