Published Apr 27, 2010Indie fans, rejoice! Two of independent music's greatest success stories, Oklahoma's the Flaming Lips and Texas quartet Spoon, are joining forces for some joint live action.
Details are few and far between, but news has broke that the two bands are pairing up for a show in Toronto on July 8 at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. Thanks to AUX TV, you can find the concert details here.
While Spoon are so far only confirmed as supporting the Toronto show, the Lips are playing Montreal the previous night on July 7, so if we're lucky, maybe Spoon will be there as well. Hell, if we're really lucky, maybe the bands are planning a bunch of dates together, as the Flaming Lips' website announces only their upcoming dates, not the supporting acts. And for Spoon, they have almost the entire month of July off.
The Flaming Lips' North American tour starts April 29 in West Palm Beach, FL, and goes all the way until July 26 in New York City, with heaps of space in between dates, so there's plenty of room for announcements about more dates and special opening guests. Keep those fingers crossed, guys!
