Flaming Lips Sick of Making New Album, Want It out of Their Hands by September

When not beefing with and apologizing to the Arcade Fire, Oklahoma weird rockers the Flaming Lips have been hard at work on their long-awaited 12th studio full-length. As we previously reported, it's set to become a double-album effort and will reportedly boast the title Embryonic. Now, in an interview with BBC 6 Music, head Lip Wayne Coyne has opened up a bit more about the project, explaining the new record will be out in September and that making double album is more difficult than it seems.

"We went into it thinking, 'Are we going to make a double album?' but it's harder than you would think," Coyne said. "Sometimes we're unfocused and sometimes we're just so wishy washy."

He went on to say the record is almost complete, and that he's ready to get it out of his hands. "There's only a couple of things we recorded that we probably won't use and everything else I think we're going to use... I think it must be like being a cook in the kitchen you're preparing this great thing but by the time it's ready you're sick of it because you've been smelling it, you've got it in your hair and in your fingers and all that."
