Published Jun 29, 2009With that new Flaming Lips album coming up fast, we're starting to get a much clearer picture of what to expect from this double-album monstrosity known as Embryonic. You know, stuff like both MGMT and Karen O will appear on the record.
Head Lip Wayne Coyne recently revealed this tasty morsel of album news in an interview with Swiss website Die Klangschau [via Stereogum].
"We have MGMT doing a song with us and we have Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs doing a couple songs with us," said Coyne. "For the Karen O tracks, I just called her up in her hotel room and we just did it right over the telephone. It's pretty absurd."
Also, O and MGMT aren't the only ones making a guest appearance on Embryonic. "We have this weird mathematician guy from Germany doing some spoken word stuff on the record," Coyne added. And while we're not usually a big fan of the whole spoken-word thing, the thought of possibly hearing some never-ending math equations does sound intriguing.
As previously reported, Embryonic is set for a tentative September release and may or may not come with this cover.
