Flaming Lips, Iggy Pop, David Lynch Contributing to Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse Collaboration

Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse have started to get the buzz going good and proper for their long in-the-works collaboration, not through a press release but a poster. This week promo posters (which look like this) began landing in bloggers' mailboxes, letting us know the album is coming this summer and will indeed boast guest appearances by Black Francis, Julian Casablancas, the Flaming Lips, James Mercer, Iggy Pop, Gruff Rhys, Granddaddy's Jason Lytle, Nina Persson, Suzanne Vega and, perhaps most surprisingly, David Lynch.

According to the poster, the album will be called Dark Night of the Soul and Lynch is in charge of the "visuals" for project. And while it doesn't clarify what those visuals are, we're guessing the director is perhaps doing music videos or some kind of filmic supplement. But who knows, maybe he's just providing some stills for the album art.

As previously reported, Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous is also busy doing another project with drone maestro Fennesz, which will come as Konkurrent's next instalment of the label's In the Fishtank series. There's no word yet, however, on when we can expect that release.

Okay, time to pick up that jaw and wipe up the drool.
