Flaming Lips Eye Collaborations with Deerhoof and Ariel Pink, Detail Plans with Neon Indian

If all of their plans actually pan out, 2011 is looking to be an incredibly productive year for Oklahoma pop freaks the Flaming Lips. Wayne Coyne has already said that the band plan to release new music on a month-to-month basis, and just earlier today (January 20) he revealed plans to work with Neon Indian. Now, he's leaked some more names that he would like the group to work with.

In an interview with Spin, Coyne revealed that he hopes to work with Deerhoof and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti on upcoming collaborations. "I think everybody would be up for doing something," he said. "But a lot of it comes down to us fitting into their schedules. I can always sneak in on their thing."

Coyne also detailed his plans with Neon Indian, saying, "We're going to do two or three songs with him and that shit should be ready to go pretty quickly... I have a couple of tunes that he's heard and we'll just do that shit and fix that up and fuck around together."

The collaborative nature and fast release times truly do make this series the indie rock version of Kanye's G.O.O.D. Fridays. The best difference between the two, however, is that rapper Cyhi Da Prynce won't be weighing down every Flaming Lips track with his utter mediocrity.
