The Flaming Lips Cancel Shows After Steven Drozd Hospitalized
Bad news today from the Flaming Lips camp: the band have had to cancel their appearance at Florida's SunFest due to the Lips' Steven Drozd being hospitalized. The report comes from the Palm Beach Post [via Pitchfork], revealing no details as to why the multi-instrumentalist is in hospital, but saying the band have scrapped their Thursday (April 29) performance.

In a statement, a SunFest rep said: "We regret any inconvenience that this may cause. The performance of any band is in the hands of the artists, not the festival. As a result, our longstanding policy is that the schedule is subject to change and no refunds will be given for festival tickets. Festival tickets are good for any one day of the five days."

According to Pitchfork, more Flaming Lips dates may be postponed, including a Saturday (May 1) show in Memphis. Hopefully this doesn't put a damper on the band's joint live action with Spoon.

UPDATE: Don't worry, guys! Drozd says he's doing okay. In a tweet, he wrote, "Thank you, everyone, for your concern. I had to do this and I'm getting it together."
