The Flaming Lips have evidently struck up a bit of a friendship with Yoko Ono as of late; they recruited her for a recent Christmas song, and Yoko's Plastic Ono Band will be performing alongside the Lips at their New Year's Freak Out No. 5 (December 31 and January 1 in Oklahoma City, OK). It's only fitting, then, that Wayne Coyne and co. have recorded a cover of the Beatles' "I Am the Walrus."
Given the Flaming Lips' penchant for freaky weirdness, it's not too much of a surprise that they make this psych rock masterpiece even more bizarre than the original. With its brittle distortion, this is a lot more abrasive than the version that appeared on 1967's Magical Mystery Tour.
