Fiver

"Mouser" (video)

U.S. Girls' Meg Remy directed the feline-featuring clip

Simone Schmidt releases her latest album as Fiver today (April 21), delving into the hitherto unsung stories of imprisoned Canadian women on Audible Songs from Rockwood. To mark the occasion, Exclaim! is giving you the first look at the brand new video for LP cut "Mouser."

As previously reported, the new record hears Schmidt telling fictionalized (but thoroughly researched) tales of inmates at Kingston's Rockwood Asylum for the Criminally Insane, addressing themes of colonialism, poverty, the stigma of mental illness, "morally dubious" authority figures and the objectivity of history in the process.

"Mouser" from the record has now been given the visual treatment, courtesy of U.S. Girls' Meg Remy, who shot and edited the clip. Picking up on the imagery from the song, the accompanying video features plenty of felines — from Schmidt's own mask-wearing depiction of a cat to some actual kitties named Santaliquid Mirror, Kevindust and Wanda, who were enlisted for the shoot.

Fiver is currently in the midst of a string of Canadian tour dates, and you can see the remaining shows listed below. Beyond that, hit play to watch the video premiere of "Mouser."
