To paraphrase Spinal Tap: There’s a fine line between clever and pretentious and this Toronto-based quartet walk it ever so delicately. The sound emanating from this two boys/two girls combo is one of airy pop massaged by smooth grooves. Sounding like a mellower Broken Social Scene on their debut EP, their live set was hampered by a real lack of presence (notwithstanding bassist Rajiv Thavanathan’s amusing gesticulations) even though their playing was tight.
