Last year, Fiona Apple toured in support of her album The Idler Wheel… with a band that included guitarist Blake Mills. This fall, she and Mills will strip things down and hit the road for a duo tour.
The outing is billed as "Anything We Want: An Evening with Fiona Apple & Blake Mills." What exactly the shows will contain is still up in the air, but a press release promises cuts from each of the performers' back catalogues, plus some original, yet-to-be-released material.
The outing takes place in October. The bulk of the shows are in the U.S., but there's also a Canadian date on October 17 at Toronto's Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Scroll down to see the schedule. Below that is Apple's recently unveiled video for "Hot Knife."
Apple and Mills shared the following four-part statement about what's in store for the trip:
1) We were sent an assignment to write three or four sentences.
2) These sentences should communicate that we, Fiona Apple & Blake Mills (that's us), are doing a little tour as a duo.
3) We know it'll be something special, and we aren't being coy here -- it's just that we have about 13% of an idea of what the fuck we will be playing for you.
4) It was our understanding that the 4th sentence was optional, but here is something that is true: the uncertainty excites us.
