Fink Starts Up New Ninja Tune Imprint for 'Hard Believer'

Fink leader Fin Greenall has teamed up with his label Ninja Tune to start up a new imprint called R'COUP'D, and the first release is a new album from his longtime project. Fink's Hard Believer will be out on July 14.

The album was recorded at the storied Sound Factory studio in Hollywood with producer Billy Bush (Garbage, Foster the People, Against Me!). Despite the big-budget surroundings, a press release notes that the album "is shot through with rawness and controlled aggression." It draws on southern Americana, with acoustic moments mixed with blues and rock.

"We wanted to go deeper this time, and be more ambitious with the music," Greenall said in a statement, "to move the sound forward without losing touch of where we're from."

For a taste of this, stream title cut "Hard Believer" at the bottom of this page. It's a fairly low-key acoustic blues number, but it grows increasingly urgent and atmospheric as it goes along. The simple accompanying visuals show circles materializing and pulsing.

The tracklist is below; as you can see, there is a bonus CD including a few cuts from a so-called "Denmark Street Session."
