Published Jul 23, 2018Though he's back with a new album, So That I May See You Again, producer Fennec remains a mystery, with next to nothing known about him. With such solid releases though, it hardly matters.
As a followup to 2017's full-length One Night Could Change Your Life, So That I May See You Again is a stunning album about nostalgia, the sweetness of regret and the tragedy of memory, according to Fennec himself. This release has a palpable beauty to it as it pulls you through reams of nostalgia and leaves you longing for a different time, as tracks like "Maratua" and "Takeoff" expertly throw back to late '90s house music.
Fennec's sample-based approach is seamless, resulting in rich, layered tracks that move beyond the minimalist output of traditional house. Think the Avalanches, if they dealt exclusively in house tracks. This is an album that everyone needs to hear. (Independent)
