A Bugged Out Mix

BY Joshua OstroffPublished Nov 1, 2003

As a taster while he diligently works on the follow-up to his trend-spawning electro opus Kittenz and Thee Glitz, Felix Da Housecat has thrown together a pretty raw party mix. Kicking off with a minimal Metro Area number, Felix quickly moves into housier territory with hits from nu-disco don Julien Jabre and aging legend Frankie Knuckles (unfortunately bringing along slightly cheeseball singer Jamie Principle). Felix then goes harder, getting a dirty electro-fix from solid, if already widely-spread, efforts from Legowelt and Ladytron before delving into the evil EBM of Covenant and Electronica’s propulsive agro-synth number "Coke, Sex, Drugs.” Dude is plainly in a dark space right now and is getting off on the all the grit. However, his only original contribution to the mix is "Control Freaq,” a melodic dance floor-filler that picks up steam but never approaches the truly bugged-out closers, Whirlpool Production’s "From Disco to Disco” and Carl Taylor’s "Space Disco.” Hopefully, he’s just saving his good stuff for the artist album.
