Feist Wins the Shortlist Music Prize
In the same 24 hours that has seen her receive five Juno nominations, Leslie Feist has also won the seventh annual Shortlist Music Prize (the U.S. equivalent to Canada's Polaris Prize and the UK's Mercury Prize). Edging out artists such as Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem and M.I.A., the Toronto-based musician was awarded the prize last night (February 4) at a ceremony in Los Angeles for her third full-length, 2007's The Reminder.

Regarding the victory, one of the judges from the Shortlist panel, Snow Patrol front-man Gary Lightbody, gushingly said: "The album of the year for 2007 or any year I can think of: it's modern and classic all at once. There are so many kinds of beauty in this record." The album of the year for any year Mr. Snow Patrol can think of? Now that's the real prize...
