Feist Plans to "Rest For A Minute" After Canadian Tour

As Feist continues to work her way across the country, the Canadian songstress has revealed she plans to give her music career a rest, not forever, but for a little while.

While talking to the Canadian Press, Feist said that when the tour wraps, she’s going to step away from the music industry and all the pressures that come with it. The plan? To "rest for a minute."

"I'm a little tuckered out, I'm just going to take some time off... When the time's right, of course, I'll start to write again," Feist told CP. "[My career] has become kind of large and it really began for me very, very small — like me alone in my bedroom with my four-track and a pair of headphones — and I just need to go back there for a while to get my bearings again and then know what to do next."

Along with leaking word about her forthcoming hiatus, she also went on to talk about her relationship with her old pals Broken Social Scene, saying fans waiting for her to join back up with the group should stop holding their breath.

"I don't really know how involved I feel [with the band] anymore, so much time has passed... at this point. For me, it's not what it was," said Feist, who co-wrote four songs on the band's 2002 You Forgot It In People album. "It's not really as interesting for me as it once was, [playing with Broken Social Scene] would be like a reunion to be able to hang out with everyone but I can do that around a kitchen table too."

Tonight, Feist’s charity-driven tour finds her in Winnipeg and ends November 10 in Charlottetown. Fans are invited to bring a food or monetary donation to any of the shows on the tour. There will be a draw at each show to award a prize to one person who donated. All proceeds from merchandise sales throughout the tour will also be donated to CARE Canada, MSF (Doctors Without Borders) and War Child Canada. Here are her dates:
