Fear Factor

TRIBUTE

BY Lorraine CarpenterPublished Oct 1, 2005

From the ever tasteful and tender-hearted world of Vice comes "Do They Know It's Halloween," a song Vice Recordings representatives call an "epic journey into the pulsating heart of fear." The track was recorded by the North American Halloween Prevention Initiative, aka Beck, Malcolm McLaren, Peaches, Feist, Devendra Banhart, Buck 65, David Cross, Nardwuar, Elvira ("Mistress of the Dark!") and members of Arcade Fire, Sonic Youth, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sloan, Wolf Parade, Postal Service, Islands, Les Savy Fav, Sum 41, Sparks, and many more. The song does double duty, raising awareness about October 31, "a pagan night of evil that must be stopped at all costs," said Vice affiliate Adam Gollner, and benefiting UNICEF.
