Father John Misty Gets Political with "Two Wildly Different Perspectives"

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Jan 30, 2017

Father John Misty is set to explore themes of "progress, technology, fame, the environment, politics, aging, social media, human nature, human connection and his own role in it all" on his Pure Comedy LP this April, and he has now shared another new single in "Two Wildly Different Perspectives."

The new track sees the musician born Joshua Tillman pair his voice with piano, string and drums, discussing the ills that come in pitting one side versus the other. The song's description reads: "More kids are going to die now thanks to the unbelievably selfish immigration policy of places like Saudi Arabia and the USA," in reference to the events of this past weekend.

You can also watch a newly shared video for the song at the bottom of the page. As you'll soon see, it embraces those political themes and then some. The video features clips of children playing with toy weapons, anchoring a newscast and attending board meetings, in addition to clips of FPS videogame action and real combat footage.

Pure Comedy will arrive on April 7 through Sub Pop.
