Father John Misty "Trouble" (Cat Stevens cover)

Father John Misty "Trouble" (Cat Stevens cover)
Father John Misty (a.k.a. Joshua Tillman) is apparently prepping a new, self-referential concept album about "despair-ridden encounters with females," but before that arrives he's offered up a seemingly thematically on-point prologue via a cover of Cat Stevens' "Trouble."

The cover tackles the track with hints of saddened, '70s-styled Canyon Country, from a down-trodden strum to Tillman's Stetson leather-scented vocals approaching the emptied-out and heartbroken lyrics of the original.

The dusty cover is taken from the upcoming ONCE I WAS: The Hal Ashby Story documentary, about filmmaker Hal Ashby, and you can sample it down below, courtesy of My Old Kentucky Blog.

As for Father John Misty's official follow-up to 2012's Fear Fun, it's expected to arrive sometime in early 2015 through Sub Pop.
