Fast Romantics

"Animal"

Toronto-via-Calgary indie rockers Fast Romantics danced their way into Exclaim!'s Top 10 Canadian Music Videos of 2015 with "Julia" last year, but now the band are back with a brand new track.

"Animal" was recorded with "Julia" producers Gus Van Go and Werner F, who also worked with the band on the entirety of their forthcoming full-length.

"We were out one night and there was some awful narrative to the night with some guy we both knew acting horribly, and it got us talking about base instincts and how certain people act on them while others resist," the band's Matthew Angus said in a statement, explaining the origin of the song. "We actually ended up having a huge argument about it and I woke up the next morning with the song in my head."

Blending that sentiment with vibrant instrumentation and a dramatic vocal performance, "Animal" is a promising glimpse into what we can expect from this group. Their next LP is expected out later this year, but while we await full details, get the anticipation building by spinning the new song in the player below.
