Faraquet

Anthology 1997-1998

Though the liner notes differ, Washington, DC’s Faraquet were influential in the invention and development of the soon shrugged-off math rock genre. Existing from 1997 to 2001, the band released only one full-length but were an integral, if over-looked, influence on the early ’00s post-hardcore scene. They also released a butt-load of singles, and Dischord has done the world a favour by releasing them in one package. There’s busy guitar work in instrumental opener "Parakeet” and a calmed down outro for "Review” but the real treat is the unreleased "Conversations,” which sees singer Devin Ocampo engage in a dialogue with his guitar. Demonstrating the versatility of Faraquet, this compilation cements the importance of these short-lived legends. Good thing they just reunited!
