Far From Breaking

The Identity

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Feb 1, 2004

Taking a page from Gorilla Biscuit’s "Start Today,” Far From Breaking offer up a solid example of straight-edge punk rock done right on The Identity. Eight of 12 songs on this disc clock in at under a minute and a half; just enough time for lead vocalist Jason Tarpey to bash into your head the point he is trying to make. While most of the ideas touched on with this record represent traditional themes for the genre, Tarpey and the rest of the band find a way to make them sound fresh and relevant, emphasising the strength of the individual of the importance of choices in one’s life. With enough gang-style vocals to satisfy a pit full of kids, The Identity is perfect music for the next time you X-up on your way to a show.
