Published Dec 11, 2009Vancouver, BC-based disco dance duo Fan Death have unveiled more details about their debut EP, A Coin for the Well, as well as announced that they have been signed to Toronto, ON's Last Gang Records for their upcoming North American releases.
The pair, made up of Dandilion Wind Opaine and Marta Jaciubek-McKeever, have been riding high after releasing their single "Veronica's Veil." That hit, plus their beautiful videos (see here, here and here), have kept indie dance fans salivating for this release, so it's good to see things coming together.
Their EP will include the previously released songs "Cannibal" and "Reunited," in addition to three unreleased tracks. The record was made with the help of UK composer Leo Chadburn (aka Simon Bookish), who did the string arrangements that overlay the heavy dance beats, and was produced by longtime collaborator Szam Findlay, who the band's bio stated is also responsible for producing all of the duo's 16 demos. Also, former DFA engineer Eric "Babytalk" Broucek mixed the record in his Brooklyn Stickydisc Recordings studio, which certainly can't hurt the danciness of their sound.
As previously reported, A Coin for the Well is scheduled to be released January 4 in Europe via Pharmacy Recording Company, a division of Universal, but North American fans will need to wait until February 23 for their copies.
Fan Death's follow-up full-length, which will be titled Womb of Dreams, is planned for a North American release in May 2010.
