Familiars

"As Our Distance Has Grown Further"

Familiars may hail from the "empty small town streets and midnight bonfires" of rural Ontario, but their sound is something much larger and wider-reaching. The three-piece are set to unleash their latest 7-inch This Water That Is Warm (I Will Soon Join) on March 12, but Exclaim! is giving you an early first listen to lead track "As Our Distance Has Grown Further."

"As the ice and snow of the winter begin to melt away, a curtain is lifted revealing a new but familiar landscape. This 7-inch tells the story of the melt and the landscape," the band explained in a statement. They added that "As Our Distance Has Grown Further" specifically "follows an iceberg as it drifts into the warmer waters and excepts its new form."

The single was recorded with Josh Korody at Candle Recording in Toronto and mastered by the Wooden Sky's Gavin Gardiner, and you can hear the geographical inspiration come to life in brutal, hard-hitting musical form now.
