The seven songs on House of Mirrors present the listener with a healthy range of human emotions delivered through highly refined, succinct, genre-bending gems. Every track on this mini-album is a short and sweet banger, each of them jam-packed with hooks and clocking in at under three minutes.

Kevvy, the frontman of Vancouver's Fake Shark (f.k.a. Fake Shark Real Zombie), has once again proven his penchant for finding upbeat, memorable hooks and delivering them in a well-produced, slick package. While he's been busy lately producing the likes of Fionn and Michaela Slinger (and he's also written with Carly Rae Jepsen), once can't help but feel he's pulled out all the stops for House of Mirrors.

An album about facing your fears and problems head on, House of Mirrors takes the listener on a reflective journey of highs and lows. Tracks like "Superstitious Thing" and "Bad Chemistry" aren't just catchy and destined for radio play — they're relatable.

While Kevvy always keeps busy with other projects like producing comedy albums (including Sophie Buddle's Lil Bit of Buddle, which won a JUNO this year) and two podcasts (Comedy Here Often? and Barely About Music), as well as a large array of other artists, he's still found time, along with his bandmates, to create a delightfully nuanced follow up to 2018's Walking Through a Fantasy. For fans of Fake Shark, it's a must-hear; for new listeners, it will be a fitting introduction to a unique and special band.
