Last month, the independent rap scene took a big hit with the news of Minnesota rapper Eyedea's death. The St. Paul spitter, born Michael Larsen, was found dead in his apartment October 17 by his mother. He was only 28 years old. While the cause of death was unknown at the time, his passing has now been ruled an accidental overdose.

All Hip Hop points to a report by the St. Paul Pioneer Press, who revealed details obtained from the coroner's report. The Ramsey County medical examiner's office explains Eyedea died from opiate toxicity, officially calling the death an accidental overdose.

Chief investigator Don Gorrie did not disclose which drugs were in Larsen's system, explaining that information won't be available to the public.

A Facebook page created by Larsen's mother is accepting donations to pay for the late Rhymesayers rapper's funeral services.
