Explosions in the Sky to Score the Al Pacino-Starring 'Manglehorn'

This month will see the release of Prince Avalanche, featuring a soundtrack by post-rock mood-setters Explosions in the Sky. Now, the band have revealed that they are working on another score, this time for a flick called Manglehorn.

This film is the latest from Prince Avalanche director David Gordon Green. Like Explosion in the Sky's soundtrack for that prior movie, this one sees them teaming up with songwriter/composer David Wingo. The band haven't yet started working on the music, but they intend to begin towards the end of 2013.

"We'll spend the end of the year diving into that," Explosions drummer Chris Hrasky told HitFix [via Consequence of Sound].

The script was written by Paul Logan, and Al Pacino will star in the title role as A.J. Mangelhorn. The film is said to tell the story of "an eccentric man who tries to come to terms with a past crime that cost him the love of his life."

IMBD tentatively lists it as coming out in 2014. It will begin shooting in the fall.

Meanwhile, Wingo will spend the coming months touring as a live member of Explosions in the Sky. The band plan to work on a new album in 2014.
