Exercise One Several Things at Once

Exercise One Several Things at Once
This is the first outing for Exercise One on Vancouver's Wagon Repair and it's a strong, deep techno record with a taste of moodiness that one would typically expect from IDM. "Colony" and the title track stand out in the sense that they're bangin' techno tracks with an intense feeling of tension. Both build up nicely and click into overdrive when they peak and kick in. "Several Things at Once" is very blippy and has a nice, gritty, resonant, synth, mid-bass line ripping through it, while "Colony" is much moodier and rips after the subtle but effective build. "Prowl" and "Breeze" are nice, mellow, trippy techno tracks, but the strength of this release is in the other two deep bangers. This is a tight outing on a well-curated imprint from Canada's misty coast. (Wagon Repair)
