Exclaim! Teams Up with Big Rig to Brew Original Beer

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 1, 2015

Nothing goes together quite as well as music and beer, so here at Exclaim! we've decided to bring the two together by launching our very own self-titled brew.

Exclaim! (the publication) has teamed up with the Ottawa-based Big Rig Brewery to create a special boozy blend that will make its debut at Toronto's Session Craft Beer Festival.

Exclaim! (the beer) is a big, lively Imperial Coffee IPA made with fair trade organic beans from Engine House Coffee and dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops. Despite weighing in at 7.5 percent and 80 IBU, it's an "approachable" beer that's more refreshing than a typical coffee porter or stout — designed to get you through any festival this summer.

"Great music and beer go hand-in-hand," said Exclaim! publisher Ian Danzig, talking about the collaborative project. "So it was a no-brainer when Big Rig asked us to collaborate with them."

Big Rig brewmaster Lon Ladell echoed those sentiments. "Music fuels us when we're brewing," he said. "To team up with Exclaim!, who has a rich history of advocating for great music in Canada, is !*@# awesome."

Session Toronto Craft Beer Festival attendees will be able to sample and vote for the Exclaim! beer on June 13 at Yonge-Dundas Square, with the winning brew receiving a spot in the LCBO.

Festival information and tickets are available over here.
