The weather's getting warmer and festival season is upon us, and thousands of Canadians are getting ready to enjoy some fresh tunes while soaking up the sun. But while there's no shortage of big, flashy festivals, wouldn't it be nice to enjoy all of that without having to leave the city for the weekend?

Exclaim! and Fred Perry are teaming up to give some lucky readers a downtown taste of festival season with the Secret Backyard Bonanza. On April 21, we'll be hosting a private concert in a secret Toronto location, with performances from power-popsters PONY and garage punks Little Junior. The event will also feature a performance from a mystery headliner, whose identity will be revealed here on April 20.

UPDATE (4/20, 10:00 a.m. EST): The mystery headliner is Hollerado, fresh off the release of their new album, Born Yesterday.

The event is co-presented by apparel company Fred Perry, who have been hosting dozens of music events internationally since 2005 under their Subculture Live brand, with a focus on promoting and supporting subcultures like punks and mods, who have kept the company thriving for 65 years and counting. Subculture Live events have featured acts such as iconic reggae producer Lee "Scratch" Perry, 2-tone ska pioneers the Specials and a pre-"Uptown Funk" Mark Ronson

Their Toronto location on Queen Street — the sole Canadian Fred Perry outlet — has also similarly sought to promote local and national talent, with an added emphasis on showcasing them in unorthodox spaces, such as bringing rising Montreal pop duo She-Devils to Toronto's 8-11 art gallery for a secret CMW showcase, or hosting a special in-store performance from Toronto ska icons the Planet Smashers in between a two-night residency at the Horseshoe Tavern.

This latest event will allow select fans to see some of Ontario's brightest and buzziest bands in an intimate setting, with refreshments provided by Grolsch.
