Ex-Smashing Pumpkins Bassist D'Arcy Wretzky Jailed over Horseplay

Former Smashing Pumpkins bassist D'Arcy Wretzky was jailed earlier this week over an incident involving a number of horses breaking free from their confines at the musician's Michigan farm and wandering around the town.

TMZ spoke with Wretzky's ex-boyfriend, Jeff Khoshaba, about the incident, which took place in 2009, who said, "the horses somehow got out of their enclosures." When neighbours noticed the equine escapees traipsing off the property, they panicked and called the police. Wretzky was then ticketed for the crime of "animals running at large."

The bassist forgot to pay the fine and ended up missing four consecutive court dates over the affair, leading to a bench warrant for her arrest. Michigan law enforcement officials picked her up on Tuesday (February 8) and have put her in jail on four counts of failure to appear in court. Wretzky will be released on Valentine's Day (February 14).

We were tempted to toss up a vid of "Wild Horses," but instead we'll focus on Wretzky's better days. "Rocket," anyone?
