It's almost impossible to watch Erik "Everlast" Schrody up on stage without thinking of House of Pain the whole time. Like, if only he would bust out the mic and jump around, you know? But Everlast's solo career has been based on countrified alt-rock, with little hints of hip-hop here and there, so that's exactly what we got: Kid Rock without the rock, and with much lower levels of d-baggery. Schrody strummed his steel string and acoustic guitar with conviction, him and his band hitting their peak at the just the right time (yep, "What's It Like") and throwing in a Johnny Cash cover for good measure. Anticlimactic as all hell, but with good Sunday evening sunny-time tunes, Everlast's set left behind a bunch of smiles, but very little excitement.
