The Evaporators

Honk The Horn

BY Ian DanzigPublished Jul 1, 2001

The jubilant king of Can-rock trivia, Nardwuar, is back with another seven-inch from his explosive rock'n'roll entourage, the Evaporators. The four new boisterous songs include the frantic garage punk of "Touch Wood," the goofy organ rave up "Honk The Horn," a 43-second Danielson-like freak out called "I'm a Critic like the Rest of Them" along with the platter's highlight, the sweet garage pop number, "I Don't Need My Friends to Tell Me Who My Friends Are," which finds the entire band in prime form. As always Nardwuar discs come with lots of extras including an excerpt from one of his investigative interviews with Tommy Lee and liner notes detailing drummer Scott Livingston's magic touch with the Evaporators' Dodge touring van.
