Esser Readies Debut Album, Signs To Chocolate Industries
When we recently spilled some ink about Esser in our Click Hear column, we said the future was looking bright for this bedroom wunderkind. Well, now it's looking even brighter. The electronics-loving Brit has just been given a North American record deal with Chocolate Industries, the imprint behind such acts as Cool Kids and Lady Sovereign.

On August 11, Chocolate Industries will release Esser's debut full-length, Braveface, in the U.S. and Canada. It marks another step up for the 23-year-old, who's already been brought on a sold-out tour with the Kaiser Chiefs in the UK and been enlisted to do production for Cee-Lo's upcoming album, all with no label or marketing previously behind him.

"The theme of my album is that all the tracks are trying to be concise pop songs," Esser (first name Ben) recently told Gigwise of the record. "There's loads of stuff happening and it's hard to make that gel but I think the vocal ideas and the same intention behind every song, to keep things simple, is what makes it."

Preceding the album is lead-off single "I Love You," which is out May 26 and features a Prince Paul remix on the B-side. However, there are only 300 copies being pressed, so if you want one, you may want to hunt one down soon.
