Last month, British dance duo Underworld announced that they were hard at work on new material, and had begun recording with legendary producer Brian Eno. The schedule for the new recordings is still up in the air, but fans will receive their first taste of the collaboration in November, with the release of the Underworld vs Misterons compilation entitled Athens.
On the comp, the last track, "Beebop Hurry," is not actually credited to Underworld, but instead listed as "Brian Eno & Karl Hyde." No word on where Hyde's band-mate Rick Smith was during the recording, but according to FACT, the song is "a mellifluous trip-hop track topped with Hyde's customary wibbly spoken vocals."
Also on the compilation is "Oh," an Underworld track previously only released on the soundtrack to 1997's A Life Less Ordinary. Other notable artists included on the disc are Roxy Music, Mahavishu Orchestra, and the late Alice Coltane.
Athens is due out on November 23 in the UK via !K7.
