Emmylou Harris Preps Expanded Reissue of 'Wrecking Ball,' Plots North American Tour with Toronto Stop

Emmylou Harris recently won a Grammy for her 2013 collaboration with Rodney Crowell, Old Yellow Moon. Now, the roots music icon is looking to the past with a reissue of her 1995 album Wrecking Ball. The re-release will be out on April 8 through Nonesuch, and it will be supported by a North American tour.

The album was produced by Daniel Lanois and won the 1996 Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. It's made up largely of cover tunes, including material originally by Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix.

This reissue is a stacked three-disc set that includes the remastered original album, a bonus CD of unreleased material and the DVD documentary Building the Wrecking Ball. The film is made up of studio footage and interviews with Harris and Lanois, plus appearances from Neil Young, Steve Earle, Brian Blade, and Kate and Anna McGarrigle, among others.

Pre-order copies additionally come with an exclusive print signed by Harris. See the tracklist for the audio portion of the reissue below; it includes various alternative versions of album cuts, plus some extra tunes.

As for the aforementioned spring outing, the so-called "Wrecking Ball Tour" is still coming together, but it currently includes a number of U.S. gigs, plus an April 15 appearance at Toronto's Massey Hall. Tickets for the Toronto show go on sale this Friday (February 7). The bill also features Daniel Lanois, Steven Nistor and Jim Wilson. Scroll past the tracklist to see the schedule.
