Eminem in Talks to Produce Detroit-based TV Crime Drama

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 16, 2015

Eminem has always shown love to his hometown of Detroit, even detailing his early career in the city in the 2002 flick 8 Mile. Now, the rapper will be helping highlight the city in a new onscreen project.

He's signed on to write and produce music for a new TV drama based on the 2002 Joe Carnahan-directed movie Narc. According to Deadline, Em is in negotiations to serve as the executive producer and music director, and is also expected to contribute original songs to the project.

Carnahan — who will direct and executive produce the show — completed a pilot script, and the series has been in development with Paramount TV for approximately a year.

The city of Detroit is expected to feature prominently in the show, just as it did in the original movie, which starred Ray Liotta and Jason Patric as police detectives investigating the case of a murdered undercover cop.
