Born out of the Texas thrash metal scene, Embodyment has mutated into the more melodic form heard on Hold Your Breath, but you can tell that speed was once important to this rhythm section. Drummer Mark Garza shines, with unparalleled skills on the kit, as is evident on the disc's third track, "Decade." The lyrics are mature but vocalist Sean Corbray sounds like he is struggling to perform at the same level as the rest of his band-mates on some tracks ("Moving On"). Personally, I am not keen on this particular production sound, with its hollow drum sound and almost buried guitars - there is some pretty impressive fretwork that is lost under the vocals. Embodyment would surely benefit from a much fuller sound.
