The Elwins

"Hello" (Adele cover)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Dec 4, 2015

Ontario indie pop outfit the Elwins returned with their latest LP Play for Keeps back in February, and as the year winds down, they've covered what is undoubtedly the song of 2015.

Yes, they've taken on Adele's "Hello," redoing it in a subtle indie-electro style. Twinkling synths and drum machine bursts take a bit of the melancholy out of the epic ballad and transform it into a track that wouldn't be out of place on the dancefloor of your holiday office party.

According to a statement from the group, the cover was inspired by "our appreciation of female pop icons, past and present." In the past, they've also included a version of Beyoncé's "Countdown" in their live show.

The track was recorded at Fox Sounds during a day off on the band's current North American tour. You can see their remaining Canadian dates listed below, and head here to find full details of the Elwins' upcoming European tour.
