Eluvium's Matthew Cooper Announces Debut as Martin Eden

BY Josiah HughesPublished Aug 31, 2012

Portland-based artist Matthew Cooper is best known for the ambient compositions he makes under the Eluvium moniker. For his next release, however, he's unveiled a new persona as Martin Eden.

A press release explains the reason for the change, as Cooper has abandoned the lush neo-classical instrumentation of his previous work in exchange for "off-kilter beats and unidentifiable instrument loops and keyboard swells," comparable to the work of the Field, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Kraftwerk.

Martin Eden's debut album is called Dedicate Function and will be available on October 9 via Lefse Records. The tracklisting is available below and the art is above.

Dedicate Function:

1. Vlad
2. Short Cut
3. Verions
4. Plantes
4. Etc_etc
5. Hum
6. Return Life
