BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 30, 2014

Elton John just missed the 40th anniversary of his classic 1973 album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, but that isn't stopping him from giving it a lavish anniversary reissue that includes an intriguing tribute collection. It will be out on March 25 through Universal Music Canada.

Containing newly remastered tracks, the reissue will arrive on CD, expanded double-CD, standard vinyl, limited-edition yellow vinyl, Blu-ray, and in a box set. The box includes: the standard album; a tribute album of covers, plus B-sides and bonus cuts; a two-disc convert recording of Live at Hammersmith from 1973; and a DVD of the 1973 film Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye to Norma Jean and Other Things. There will also be a 100-page hardback book.

You can see the lengthy tracklist to the five-disc box set here, where you can also pre-order all versions of the reissue.

As for the tribute album, it features covers of the nine songs from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road from a diverse cast of contributors. These include Miguel (featuring Wale), Fall Out Boy, John Grant, Emeli Sandé, Zac Brown Band, Imelda May and more. See the tracklist for the tribute album, which included in the double-disc reissue and the box set, below.

The day after the release, on March 26, the new concert film The Million Dollar Piano (from the songwriter's Las Vegas residency) will be shown in Cineplex movie theatres. This international event will include Canadian cinemas. Tickets go on sale starting February 7.
