Late indie pop hero Elliott Smith left behind a decent amount of previously unheard music, some of which was recently collected on vinyl. Here, however, we have another Smith gem with a cover of the Beatles' "I'll Be Back."
In Smith's hands, the single from A Hard Day's Night is a minimal and charming affair. There are no drums, but it's still a full and fascinating listen. Also, keep your ears pealed for his imitation Beatles banter towards the end of the track.
