Elliott Smith-Heavy 'Good Will Hunting' Soundtrack Gets First Vinyl Release

In addition to thrusting the careers of actors/screewriters Matt Damon and Ben Affleck into overdrive, 1997 drama Good Will Hunting put the music of iconic indie troubadour into Elliott Smith the mainstream. Close to twenty years after the film's soundtrack made in onto CD, the collection is now being given its first pressing on vinyl.

Amazon lists the wax platter as having a February 3 street date through Capitol. A tracklisting wasn't posted on the pre-order page, so it appears, for now, that this will be a straightforward reissue of the set.

The fifteen-song soundtrack features six Smith songs. "No Name #3" was pulled from his Roman Candle LP, while "Angeles," "Between the Bars," and "Say Yes" were plucked from Either/Or. Exclusive to the set were an orchestral version of "Between the Bars" and "Miss Misery," the latter of which was later nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. It lost to Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On."

Also included on the soundtrack are Gerry Rafferty's sax-blastin' "Baker Street," work from composer Danny Elman, and contributions from the Dandy Warhols, Al Green, and more. How do you like them apples?
