Elliott Brood Sign to Paper Bag for 'Days Into Years'

Things are starting to pick up for Toronto-based alt-country act Elliott Brood. Prior to last month's announcement of a new seven-inch single called Northern Air, the band hadn't released anything since 2008's Polaris-nominated Mountain Meadows. The single was meant to tease a new LP titled Days Into Years, but at the time, we didn't know when the full-length would see its release. One month later, we have the full details.

The new studio set will arrive September 27 on the band's new label home of Paper Bag Records. According to a press release, the album was inspired by a five-day sojourn back in 2007 between tour dates in Barcelona and Amsterdam in which the trio found themselves exploring the Belgian and French coastal lines.

"They were drawn to the picturesque seaside ports, quaint villages and secluded fields in the countryside, where they were compelled to stop and explore," the PR reads. "They visited historical battlefields and cemeteries along the way, all culminating in an early morning stop at Juno Beach. Not until weeks later, caught in the midsummer Paris rush hour traffic, did the band begin to discuss the effects of that journey."

Years after the trip, the band got together and wrote a batch of tunes inspired by the beauty they took in on the European trip, eventually recording the tracks at Green Door Studios. You can get a taste of breezy-but-ramblin' album track "Northern Air" here.
