In some tragic news, Ella Ann (born Korttney Elliott), one half of the female rap duo the Bangz, has been shot in the neck and is in critical condition. While the details are still hazy, we know that she was shot on Wednesday (September 16) and has yet to regain consciousness.

In a series of Twitter updates from the band's official page, they suggest that doctors are hopeful she will regain consciousness, though, despite three surgeries, she's yet to do so. The most recent Tweet, posted on Sunday (September 20), reads: "Just left hospital, Ella is still hanging in there, she has gotten no better or no worse, still hasn't woken up, but her swelling has gone down."

The Bangz are part of a burgeoning rap scene called the jerk movement, and currently have the song "We Love Boys with Tattoos (We Jerkin')" in rotation on the radio.

Stay tuned for updates on this situation.
