Eleni Mandell Wishbone

This can be summed up in two words: Lilith Fair. Better than Jewel, but not as good as PJ Harvey. Sylvia” is the typical rock radio friendly tune with louder choruses and soft bits swirling around it, kinda like cinnamon topping on a coffee. A caffeinated bright spot is “Snake Song,” which stands out because Mandell has been able to create the feeling that the song was recorded in an outdoor Middle Eastern cafe. This is the best of the 11 coffee shop folkie tunes on this other wise decaffeinated album. For those who want the real thing, Wishbone might be best left to percolate in the pot. (Mr. Charles)
